Cross country kicked off

A big welcome back to all our athletes, training has now been back for the last few weeks and all athletes are enjoying being back and preparing for this years cross country season.

Adamstown Open Cross Country

Adamstown was our first outing of the year and many athletes travelled on the 16th September picking up many medals on the day.
Jack Corcoran ran an excellent race to finish in first place U9. U12 Lindsey McGuire ran an exceptional strong race also coming in first. U14 Jamie McCarthy ran strong in a very competitive race finishing in 3rd place.
Others who competed and won medals were Claire Caulfield U9, Evan Hayes and Dylan Rowe U10, Ethan Flynn U11, Emer McGlynn U11. Emma Caulfield, Aoife Cadogan, David McGlynn and Nathan O’Callaghan also competed and ran well for the club.

St.Senans, Open Cross Country, Kilmacow
Last Sunday 23rd September a large number of athletes turned up for a very competitive open sports in Kilmacow. Waterford A.C. were well represented on the day and all the athletes had good day out.
Results: Jack Corcoran 1st  U9 , Lindsey McGuire 2nd  U12.
Medals were also won by Zac Robinson and Fortune Eddie U9. Victory Eddie and Evan Hayes U10.

Team wins:
U12 boys bronze: Ethan Flynn, Cathal Scanlon, Jimmy Carberry and Sean Barron
U14 boys silver: Jamie McCarthy, Hugo Blair, David Mc Glynn and Favour Eddie.

Next Sunday 30th September will see our athletes travel to the first of two County Cross Country Championships in St. Augustine’s, Dungarvan Co. Waterford commencing at 12pm.
The club wishes all our athletes the best of luck over the coming weeks.

All training at Kingfisher now

Starting Tuesday next Sept 25th Juvenile training for 8 years and older will move indoors to the Kingfisher hall and not WIT Sports campus. The session will be from 7 to 8:15pm.
Note also from October the Thursday session will then move to Friday at 7pm.

Summary for the next while is:

For 5, 6 and 7 yr olds.....

The Saturday session continues at 12:30 to 1:30 each week at Kingfisher

For 8 year olds and older.......

Kingfisher at 7 to 8:15  as follows

September training

For september 5,6 and 7 yr olds are 12:30 to 1:30 in Kingfisger hall and 8 yrs and older are 7 to 8 at WIT Sports campus on Tuesday and Thursday.

Training is back on Tuesday August 28th

We welcome all members back next week as training resumes for those aged 8 years and older on Tuesday Aug 28th at 7pm in the RSC.  Training for Juveniles aged 5, 6 and 7 resumes on Saturday September 1st at 12:30 at the RSC

The following week training will change to Carriganore for the month of September at the same time of 7pm on the Tuesday & Thursday. 

In October training will move indoors to the Kingfisher on Tuesday and  Friday at 7pm

Great trip to national T&F Championships

With AAI providing a free bus, free entry and a lovely Assics T shirt for all the Juveniles who did the fitness test a great day was had at the national Track & Field championships at santry, Dublin last Sunday. Athletes were very willing to give autographs and we even got to run a lap of the track at the end! 2012 Olympians Paul Hession, Derval Rourke, Colin Griffin and Jessie Barr were very popular and gave plenty of time chatting with the kids. Munster Championships CIT

Congrats to our Juvenile club in winning more Munsters medals this weekend in Cork. 
 
Kathleen Heery is the munster champion in the U14 discus, Luke O'Brien won silver in the U14 Javelin and Alan Slattery won silver in U19 3k and bronze in 1500m and will now represent the club at the national champs later this month. Also Hannah Cawley and Emma O' Brien qualified for the all Irelands in the race walking . Many fine performances were had and thanks to the coaches and parents who made the trip. WAC doing it!!!
