Training is back on Tuesday August 28th

We welcome all members back next week as training resumes for those aged 8 years and older on Tuesday Aug 28^th at 7pm in the RSC.  Training for Juveniles aged 5, 6 and 7 resumes on Saturday September 1st at 12:30 at the RSC

The following week training will change to Carriganore for the month of September at the same time of 7pm on the Tuesday & Thursday. 

In October training will move indoors to the Kingfisher on Tuesday and  Friday at 7pm

Great trip to national T&F Championships

With AAI providing a free bus, free entry and a lovely Assics T shirt for all the Juveniles who did the fitness test a great day was had at the national Track & Field championships at santry, Dublin last Sunday. Athletes were very willing to give autographs and we even got to run a lap of the track at the end! 2012 Olympians Paul Hession, Derval Rourke, Colin Griffin and Jessie Barr were very popular and gave plenty of time chatting with the kids. Munster Championships CIT

Congrats to our Juvenile club in winning more Munsters medals this weekend in Cork. 

 

Kathleen Heery is the munster champion in the U14 discus, Luke O'Brien won silver in the U14 Javelin and Alan Slattery won silver in U19 3k and bronze in 1500m and will now represent the club at the national champs later this month. Also Hannah Cawley and Emma O' Brien qualified for the all Irelands in the race walking . Many fine performances were had and thanks to the coaches and parents who made the trip. WAC doing it!!!

 

 

 

Summer break

Training finishes Thursday June 28th and will resume on Tuesday Aug 28th.

There is a free bus to Santry to watch the National senior T&F championships on Sun July 8th. Please contact 0862369017 if you would like a space. First 50 confirmed are in!

All Ireland Medals

OMG we won Gold and 2 sets of silver today in Cork.

U10 gold medal winners in the 4 x 100m relay were Jack Deegan, Victor Eddy, Dylan Rowe and Evan Hayes. U9 boys of Jack Corcoran and Fortune Eddy won silver in the 60m sprint (team of two) and also silver for Victor Eddy and Evan Hayes in the U10 60m sprint.

Hats off also to our coaches in preparing these fine athletes to compete at such a high level...and have great fun in doing so! Also competing very well today were Ethan Flynn and Lee McKay in the U11 60m and the U11 relay team which finished 5th was Ethan Flynn, Lee McKay, Cathal Scanlon and Victory Eddy.

Juveniles Munster Championships

WAC Juveniles had a great 2 days of competition at the Munster Championships in Cork this weekend; A win in U10 boys relay, 2nd in the U11 boys relay on Saturday and 4 gold medals and 2 bronze on Sunday. Lots of great performcase over the weekend and well done all who competed and thanks to the coaches for a great preparation job.

Opening of Waterford Nature Park

President Higgins came to Waterford today to officially open the Waterford Nature park and many Juvenile members were out in force to welcome him and entertain him with their activities.
