No training this week
Unfortunately, while the snow is nice to play in, the RSC track is not available so, for our evening sessions, its a non-runner!
Hopefully, we will be back next week: on Monday at Cilbarra for our indoor session at 6pm or Tuesday at 7pm and Friday at 6:30pm both at the RSC.
In the meantime, have a look at the following warm up routine from Runnersworld magazine. It is important for every athlete to have a warm up and cool down routine that they are familiar with, particularly during the track and field season..both indoor and outdoor!

Munster B Great day out
Best day of the season so far was the Munster B Cross Country in a super Dungarvan course today with individual wins for Hugo Blair in the U11 and Alan Slattery in the U17. Both lads were winners by a long way and showed great controlled running from start to finish. Other medal winners were Ethan Flynn and Garvin Blair in boys U9, Fergus O'Brien in Boys U11, Gwyneth Blair in girls U13, Saoirse Casey Power and Emma O'Brien in girls U15, Richard Lucas in Boys U17 and others who didn't make it into the medals but ran strong through these long distances were Nina Lawlor, Nicole McCarthy, Emma Caulfield, Emer McGlynn, Lynsey McGuire, Orla O'Connor, Anna O'Connor, Cliona Brennan, Jamie McCarthy and Luke O'Brien. Unfortunately after making the effort to make it David McGlynn had to pull out due to a soccer injury. While Louise Reidy didn't compete on the day she ended up covering the 3.5K distance she would have had to cover while supporting all our other runners from U9 through to U17 and her support was much appreciated by all.

Cross Country County Championships - Un-Even ages - U9,11,13,15 & 17
This coming Sunday at St Augustines College in Dungarvan sees week 2 of the County Cross Country Championships for children born in 2002 or before.
For parents who are not familiar with how the ages work it goes as follows:
Children born in 2002 are U9, 2001 and 2000 are U11, 1999 and 1998 are U13, 1997 and 1996 are U15 with 1995 and 1994 being U17.
Your children have been back now a number of weeks and training with cross country in mind so lets make every effort to get them to Dungarvan to make up teams and maybe win a few medals at the same time. The follow up Munster championships are in Charleville in Co.Cork on Nov 7th and we will be setting up a special cross country training squad following next Sunday's county attendance to prepare fully. If the squad is large enough we will send a bus to the event.
Your support in getting your children to the county championships this weekend would be greatly appreciated by the coaches.

New date for Sports and Party
The cross country sports and party will now be held on Sunday, January 31st from 12 noon. Registration from 11:30am. Read earlier posts for more details.
Don't forget the "Design a slogan" competition! We are looking for a slogan (maximum 3 words) for the juvenile section of the club, which we will put on our club gear in the future. Write it down, with your name and put it in the box at the sports day on Jan 31st. Prize for best one is a €50 Voucher for Alfie Hale Sports. If you’re not in you can’t win.
Training is back on Tuesdays at mount sion and Fridays at the RSC. Re-registrations can be done by bringing the registration form given before Christmas or downloading it from the main website http://www.waterfordac.com/
